We were was asked by the BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT,
to review how the professional body and learned society could boost the impact of its external communications

What We Did

  • We hosted a workshop of senior representatives of the BCS and analysed the organisation’s existing public affairs and PR programmes.
  • We produced a SWOT analysis and identified areas the BCS needed to improve the way it communicated externally and the changes that were required to deliver this internally.
  • We provided ideas for how the BCS could enliven and grow its membership. 

The Results

The BCS took forward our recommendations and streamlined its external communications activity. By focusing around a core of four workstreams aligned to government priorities at the time, the BCS was able to enliven relationships with existing and new members and comment on the issues that mattered politically and helped boost the BCS’ profile externally.
