The Clarity team's favourite podcasts

We might have widely differing musical tastes, never agree on which is the best sport and always argue about food. If there is one thing though that the Clarity team is united on it is our passion for podcasts.

We all agree that there really is no better way to get through those challenging commutes than with white buds popped in our ears and smart people informing us about our favourite subjects.

So here are a few of our favourite podcasts as chosen by the team.

We are also hugely proud that one of our team members, Jay Kolbe, has his own in the guise of the Blockchain Bridge podcast. You can hear Jay and his cohorts in action discussing everything blockchain, from tokenization through to regulation, here

I love 2 Dope Queens. It’s a recording of a live comedy show in Brooklyn hosted by Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams. They invite comedians and famous celebrities to cover all topics related to sex, romance, race and more. I’m always trying not to laugh out loud when listening to this podcasts during my morning commute. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys stand up comedy! 10/10 recommend!

Kevin Blomberg (AE, NY)

I am a big fan of Larry Wilmore's "Black on the Air"  in which the Emmy Award winning producer, actor, and comedian Larry Wilmore is back on the air, hosting a podcast where he weighs in on the issues of the week and interviews guests in the worlds of politics, entertainment, culture, sports, and beyond.

Girl on Guy was a fantastic podcast hosted by Aisha Tyler. The concept was based on Aisha's upbringing as a woman raised by her father and how she developed a taste for "guy" things. In each episode she interviews a guest - primarily male celebrities- and chats about guy stuff. This premise may seem a bit passé as we move closer and closer to a fluid society BUT it harkens to tomboys (like myself) who grew up into sports, cars and super heroes and were more into drinking whiskey over wine and more likely to be at a rock concert than a ballroom.

Simultaneously, it dives into the lives of notable figures and goes behind the curtains on people we assume we know because of their high visibility and profiles. My favorite segment is "Self Inflicted Wounds"- where Aisha asks her guests to relay a story about a time they had a traumatic experience and it was totally their own fault. It hearkens to that old classic phrase- "We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell. -Oscar Wilde"

Michelle Yampolsky (SAE, NY)

I love the Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast! It features a husband and wife duo, Lauryn Evarts Bosstick & Michael Bosstick, discussing some of their favorite health trends and habits. They always have an interesting guest appear, which adds a new perspective. Some of my favorite guests have taught me a lot about things I wouldn't usually be interested in or know about- like ayurveda, plant based diets, sleep schedules, etc. I'm not saying I automatically follow or buy everything I hear about, but it's fun to learn about new things when the podcast hosts sound like your close friends!

Ellie Cottrell (SAM, London)

There are plenty of business podcasts the I regularly listen to and love, however, my favourite podcast of all time has to be My Dad Wrote a Porno  It’s a British podcast hosted by Jamie Morton, James Cooper and Alice Levine. Each episode features Jamie reading a chapter of a horrifically written and biologically impossible erotic novel, penned by his own Dad. It’s comedy gold and a perfect bit of light relief after a day in the office. Be warned; people will stare at you while you’re laughing on the tube.

Sara Collinge (MD, UK)

My favourites are: The High Low, and Malcolm Gladwell's one Revisionist History both great for different moods. Also Serial is amazing.

Jay Kolbe (SVP, emerging technologies, NY)

Cyclone Fanatic - Because a boy has to stick close to his university's sports teams, and nobody covers the ins and outs of Iowa State University's athletics like Cyclone Fanatic! Also Unconfirmed - Laura Shin's spinoff (from Unchained) is my favorite blockchain / crypto podcast, because she gets the biggest names to talk about the week's news in the space. It's always smart and timely...And it's only 25 minutes to consume. I start every Friday with this podcast.

Luke McDowell (AE, London)

My favourite is Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness I love this podcast not only because Jonathan is hilarious, but because it actually covers some really serious topics in a great way. I think it’s great that he’s using his new found fame from Queer Eye to educate his listeners about really important issues!

Calen McGee (AC, NY)

I love The Joe Budden Podcast: The Podcast is lead by retired rapper Joe Budden and his two friends, Rory and Mal. They typically discuss changes and events in hip hop culture, make jokes and discuss upcoming albums that interest them. At the end of every show, they play "Sleepers" for their listeners, which are tracks that typically don't have many listeners or are tracks that they have been listening to a lot particularly that week.

Simran Maini Hoskins (Consultant, London)

Fave podcasts: 1. The HighLow - a news focussed podcast that deconstructs controversial topics spanning two worlds - the high brow and the low brow. Witty, feminist and hilarious. I also love Oprah's Super Soul Conversations - for when you need that hit of inspiration or fancy listening in on a meaningful conversation that almost always has an impact, and The Joe Rogan Experience - whilst I often find his point of view slightly off key, I can't help but enjoy the meaty topics and impressive guests. Always one that gets me thinking - and generates real discussion at home.

Ashley Norris (Consultant, London)

I love Backlisted podcast, which is basically two very smart and funny fellas, and a special guest, usually an author, talking passionately about brilliant, but largely forgotten literary fiction. They have basically ruined my life. All I do these days is sit in semi- dark rooms reading novels about the blitz.
